 High protein snacks get a lot of flak for being boring, or not nutritious enough, or just being downright a scam. However, both protein bars and snacks are plagued by a lot of myths. These misinformed people can keep you from understanding how to take care of your body in then best way possible.

 

Here are some myths related to protein, busted.

 

Myth: only sportspeople and gym goers need extra protein

Truth: Well, from walking 10s of kilometres to doing a lot of staircase climbing, several of us lead marginally physically exhausting lifestyle. This list also includes pregnant women and kids who are at a growing age. The truth is, a bowl of daal or an occasional egg or two are just not enough protein for your body. Your body protein requirement depends on your weight and level of activity, and it is important to supplement your body with a protein bar every now and then to ensure you are your fittest self.

 

 

Myth: Protein snacks are boring!

Truth: Um, excuse me? Several food scientists have been hard at work for the past few years to find a way to make protein appealing for the common public. Given how much one needs to consume it, it makes sense to put their efforts there. The result is a wide range of flavours available in nutty, tasty, protein bar and snack options. These are made with interesting grains like oats and ragi that have a fun texture. They are also added with a bunch of natural flavours that make stuff more interesting!

 

Myth: Protein supplements should only be recommended by doctors

Truth: All in all, there are very few cases of people consuming TOO MUCH protein. Most of the stuff that you can buy off the counters – protein bar price of which is quite average, or protein snacks, are quite regular foods that are only made to be a little healthier. Hence, you can go ahead and have them without being worried about ‘overdosing’ on proteins. If anything, you should be worried about having TOO LITTLE protein.

 

Myth: Protein is not for women

Truth: Indians are quite vary of letting women consume too much protein – it is quite scary for them to see women with muscles, et tout. Hence, it is natural that they are worried if women have too much protein and will develop bulky muscles. If you are one of those people, you should rest assured because that is not very easy to happen. Women often lead very hectic lifestyles, and they need the additional protein. There is no fear of them developing bulky muscles overnight. In fact, girls in a growing age and pregnant women are especially in need of all the extra protein they can possibly eat. This goes a long way in ensuring their long term health and nutrition levels.
