Importance of Protein in Our Everyday Lives
In middle school,
you must have learnt about the different kinds of nutrients which are essential
to the body. Those nutrients include but are not limited to carbohydrates,
vitamins, minerals and proteins. Classified as a macronutrient, proteins are
composed of complex molecules and play a vital role in our day to day lives.
In the ordinary
course of business, proteins take up the roles of enzymes which catalyze
chemical reactions within your body. However, this is not the only function it
performs. In different forms, protein plays different roles. For example, when
protein is consumed before a workout, perhaps through high protein bars,
it boosts muscle recovery efforts.
In fact, protein
powder or protein rich food items are consumed religiously by those who workout
on a regular basis. A common myth is that consuming protein is only for those
who dedicatedly work out or are professionals but the truth is that protein is
used by several ordinary people too but in comparatively smaller quantities.
To construct a
strong and tall building, you first have to destroy the older building in its
place and then build a solid foundation which aids in sustaining the grand
building. Similarly, when you perform exercises such as weight lifting, your
muscles are broken down. The protein then helps to build better, stronger, and
larger muscles in its place just like the strong foundation of a new building.
This may seem like a trivial matter but quite the contrary, protein plays a
large part in the formation of new muscles.
